My target
I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What I do
- All text meets AA colour contrast in both the light (“paper”) and dark (“microscope”) themes.
- Everything works with a keyboard; focus is always visible; there is a “skip to content” link.
- Every illustration has a text description; charts come with the numbers behind them.
- Colour is never the only way information is shown. Evidence labels use a symbol, a word and a colour.
- Animations respect your device’s “reduce motion” setting.
- Basics are explained in plain language in Explore, each with a labelled picture and a short animation with a pause button.
- The body typeface, Atkinson Hyperlegible, was designed for low-vision readers.
Known limitations
- 3D models are best understood visually. Each has a written description and labelled hotspots.
- Augmented reality depends on your phone’s capabilities.
