Science that cares across generations

How research on tiny flies connects to human health, to education, and to the decisions that shape the next generation, told honestly.

The honest version

Fruit flies let me test whether a mechanism can work: microbes making lactate, lactate becoming a histone tag, tags reaching the next generation. Mammals use the same molecules. In mouse and human embryos, lactate and the H3K18la mark help switch on the embryo’s genome Emerging: A few studies so far; an active research area.. And in people, parents’ health around conception and pregnancy shapes children’s health Strong evidence: Several independent studies agree..

My fly work will not tell anyone what to eat. It shows which mechanisms are worth chasing in people, and it trains me to chase them.

How this work can make the world better

Careful fly research Findings, open methods Scientific community Better mechanisms to test in mammals and humans
Biology made simple Free basics with pictures and animations (EN, soon HI) Public understanding Wiser everyday choices, less fear, more curiosity
Teaching kits, school talks Lesson plans and activities Education and equity More young people, especially girls and first-generation students, see science as “for me”
Evidence briefs Reviewed briefs with options Policy conversations Better-informed choices on first-1,000-days programmes, AMR and research funding
Open visuals and data CC BY figures and datasets Reuse by teachers and journalists Accurate science in classrooms and media

Assumptions I am testing: officials read short briefs, teachers want free curriculum-linked ideas, and visitors find the basics easier with pictures and animations. I’ll report what works and what doesn’t.
